5 Steps to Finding a New Job in 2015!

Set Long and Short Term Career Goals:

The most successful job seekers develop a long-term career path. Take the time to determine where you want to be, professionally, in 5-10 years. From there you will be better positioned to know what small steps you need to take to get there.

Build Your Resume:

Your resume is a living document. Keep your long-term career goals in mind and take on projects and positions that will help move your closer to achieving those goals. As you learn new skills or take on more responsibilities be sure to add them to your resume.

Develop Your Professional Network:

To tap into the hidden job market it is important to have good connections. Using social media to build a network is one way to do it – but it in no way replaces getting out in your community and meeting people. Volunteer and be active!

Use Your Resources Wisely:

There are countless resources available to support your job search. Know what they are and how they can best support you. To get the best results you will want to use a variety of resources including staffing firms, job boards and community programs.

Interview With Confidence:

Take the time to research the company, their goals and their culture. This will allow you to ask good questions and be able to speak about how you can best support the organization. Being prepared will demonstrate you genuine interest in the position and their business.

Testimonials

Recommending Manpower staffing specialists

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank and recommend [Manpower’s staffing specialist] for her professionalism and dedication to her role at Manpower. She was extremely helpful throughout the initial hiring process and was always just an email or call away for support whenever it was needed. I have recommended Manpower to others, on the basis of my experience working with [staffing specialist], and will continue to do so in the future.”

Testimonials

Made the move to Maine easier

“When my husband and I moved back home to Maine, we moved back to be closer to family with the idea that we would find jobs once we were settled. We bot signed up with manpower shortly after moving, prepared with the face that the placement may take some time. We were wrong! Within 2 weeks, we both had placements. We were both working full time, fair waged positions that were in our respective fields. Manpower allowed us to get a jump start on our financial stability after the move. We are both very thankful for the kind-spirited, hard-working staff that were dedicated to finding us quality positions that matched our needs and lifestyle.”

Testimonials

Steady work and good wages

“Working for Manpower is great! I get steady work at good wages. The jobs are interesting, and I can get as many hours as I want. Sometimes there is even a shift differential and overtime. And, there’s never any hassle about getting paid. Manpower gives me what I need: Food, Jobs and Flexibility.”

Testimonials

Surpassed my expectations

“Manpower, as a job placement agency, has not only met, but surpassed my expectations. The warm and friendly staff works hard to place their associates in assignments not only suited to their abilities, but takes into consideration their preferences as well. My own experience with Manpower has most definitely been a positive one. From the moment I joined the team, the staff has worked with me in securing assignments that have been a perfect fit for me. I’ve enjoyed all my assignments and the people I have met. Whether you are looking for a temp or temp-to-hire job, Manpower will go to work with you to find the best match.”

Testimonials

A long overdue thanks

“It is long overdue, but I would like to thank you and the Manpower Agency for hiring me and placing me at [employer]. I’ve since been hired on full times there and I am very much appreciative of your services to help me get there. I received your congratulatory card in the mail after my hiring with [employer]. You people are amazing and they work you do is outstanding.”

October is Manufacturing Month

Each year in the month of October we celebrate those that help build Maine! Maine has a rich manufacturing history that has been battered over the last several years due to labor shortages, the cost of keeping mills open in our state and the overall cost of business. However, one thing is for sure – Maine is filled with people committed to making sure Manufacturing has a solid future in Maine.

#MfgDay14:

The MFG Day Mission*

MFG DAY addresses common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is — and what it isn’t. By working together during and after MFG DAY, manufacturers will begin to address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry.Supported by a group of industry sponsors and co-producers, MFG DAY is designed to amplify the voice of individual manufacturers and coordinate a collective chorus of manufacturers with common concerns and challenges. The rallying point for a growing mass movement, MFG DAY empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges so they can help their communities and future generations thrive.
