Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with the Engineering and Tooling Manager to develop and build general-purpose fixturing and tooling to support the manufacturing process
  • Setting up and operating machine tools, and fitting and assembling parts to make or repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools, prototypes, or machines
  • Determining dimensions and tolerances of pieces to be machined, sequence of operations, and machines required by studying specifications such as blueprints, sketches, damaged parts, or descriptions of parts
  • Planning and executing complex and difficult assignments using machine tools ranging from lathes to milling machines
  • Operating computer-controlled machines to build simple and progressive stamping dies under direction
  • Utilizing a broad variety of metals and extensive knowledge of measurements.
  • Training other machinists and production staff on using new tooling/fixtures safely.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school education or equivalent
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in an equivalent position
  • Ability to read, develop, and interpret specifications on blueprints and sketches.
  • Preferred experience with CNC and trade school education.
