Weaving & Fiber Manufacturing Technicians – Career Transition Friendly
Pay: $20-22 per hour
Schedule: 1st & 2nd Shift openings available
Status: Direct, permanent openings
We have an ongoing need for weaving & fiber technicians for an industry leading and growing business with worldwide connections right here in Biddeford.
These positions are at an established, high‑tech manufacturing operation that produces advanced textile and composite materials used in aerospace, defense, and extreme‑environment applications. The work here isn’t mass production – it’s precision manufacturing, done carefully, by hand and by machine, where quality matters as much as speed.
If you’re dependable, detail‑oriented, and interested in learning a specialized manufacturing skill set, this could be a strong long‑term fit.

What the work looks like:
Depending on your strengths and training path, this role may involve a mix of:
- Operating and supporting specialized weaving and fiber‑processing equipment
- Performing detailed hand‑weaving using carbon and technical fibers (3‑ and 4‑directional weaves)
- Making and preparing needles, spools, and related tooling
- Inspecting materials and finished work to exact specifications
- Recording process and quality data accurately
- Assisting with equipment setup, material handling, and changeovers
- Following strict safety, housekeeping, and quality procedures
The environment is climate‑controlled, safety‑focused, and highly structured. Precision, patience, and consistency matter here.
This role is a good fit for people who:
- Take pride in doing careful, repeatable work
- Have good hand‑eye coordination and attention to detail
- Are comfortable standing and working with their hands for long periods
- Can follow written instructions and basic math requirements
- Value long‑term stability over quick turnover
Manufacturing experience is helpful but not required – strong candidates are trained extensively. This is also a great opportunity for those looking to transition from service or retail positions into a career in manufacturing because of the training program.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment physical, drug screen, and background check
- Basic math and reading comprehension (assessed during the interview process)
- Willingness to follow a structured training and qualification path
What the hiring process looks like:
The hiring process for this position is thorough and deliberate. It includes multiple screening steps and an in‑depth on‑site interview with our client including a basic math comprehension test.
This opportunity is best suited for candidates who are planning ahead and can accommodate a longer hiring timeline. If you’re looking for immediate, short‑term work, this may not be the right fit – but for the right person, the payoff is long‑term stability and skill development.
What you’ll get:
- 16 earned time‑off days
- 12 paid holidays (including a winter shutdown)
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage effective day one
- 401(k) with company match effective day one
- Tuition reimbursement
- $1,000 sign‑on bonus
